What is Paintwork Correction?
The Process of Machine Paintwork Correction involves removing swirl marks, fading paint (e.g red to pink) & light scratches from the paintwork whether it be a base coat colour or a lacquered finish (clear coat). This is done using a number of different polish and pad combinations which are dependent on many factors.
The main factors are:
Car Manufacturer, Age of Paintwork and Severity of Marks.
This is a much more in depth detail and will require more skill as this will remove medium/heavy swirl marks, cob webbing, hollograming, buffer trials, heavy bird dropping etchings, water etchings, and light scratches (some deeper scratches cannot be removed fully with machine polishing. These will generally needed to be wet sanded)
This will generally be a 1-5 stage machine polish depending on severity of defects and paint thickness.
The paint will be assessed for thickness using a professional digital gauge, vital to any machine polishing work. This will highlight any previous repair work and re spraying and the safe levels of paint removal that can be achieved.
Once readings have been taken from the entire vehicle and an assessment has been made an area will then be tested with various polish and pad combinations.
Once the correct combination is found, the paint will then undergo it's correction.
It is a common misconception by body shops, dealerships and vehicle cleaning companies that one polish fits all!
So it is not unusual to see cars leaving their premises covered in paintwork defects such as Buffer trails.
This is for the serious detailing process of having your vehicles paint totally overhauled and transformed to it's former glory
(or as close as possible).
Detail will include:
Alloy wheels thoroughly cleaned (front and back) using a non acid cleaner
PH neutral Snow foam of exterior (degreases and loosen dirt)
Wheel arches cleaned
Washed using 2 bucket method & 100% lambswool wash mitt
Tar removal
Fallout Removal (Embedded metal particles)
Door shuts and filler cap degreased and cleaned
Snow foamed again
Rinsed
Claybar Paint/windows/door jambs/wheels (leaving a smooth and clean surface)
Snow foamed again to remove any clay lube & Residue
Washed using 2 bucket method
Rinsed
Dried using high quality Microfiber drying towels
Paint depth checked over the entire vehicle using a digital gauge
1-5 stage machine polish using various grades of professional polish and pads to remove medium/heavy swirls and light scratches
Isopropanol Alcohol wipe down of entire vehicle to ensure any polish oils and residues are completely removed
Paint cleansed using Dodo Juice Lime Prime light, Zaino HD cleanse or Lusso Oro Paint revitalising créme (this will thoroughly clean and nourish the paint with essential oils and aid the wax in bonding to the surface)
1 coat of high grade carnauba wax applied( extra coat and upgraded wax available at an extra cost)
Final mist of Zaino Z8 this provides another protective layer of carnauba giving an envious shine to finish off
Exterior glass polished and water repellent applied
Wheels sealed for gloss and protective durability making brake dust easier to remove in subsequent washes
Tyres dressed
Exterior trims dressed
Vehicle interior hoovered
Wet extraction cleaned to remove any stains (if necessary)
Interior glass & mirrors cleaned
Interior trims cleaned and dressed with matt finish
Leather cleaned and conditioned (where applicable)
Deoderised
Air Freshner
Minimum 18 hours, can take longer dependent on vehicle size & condition
This detail will need shelter i.e water and power. A warm garage is a definite bonus.
Larger 4x4's will incur an extra charge
